How this texture works
Newsprint Type rebuilds your image or video as a two-part print on warm paper. Split mode is Text in shadows, so the darker areas fill with dense repeated type from the Text field, and the lighter areas become fine ordered dithering. The text split threshold decides where type gives way to dots. Ink is near black on a cream background, which gives the look of a newspaper page seen up close.
Tips
- Type your own words into Text. A short word repeats more often and reads as pattern.
- Move Text split threshold to change how much of the picture is type and how much is dither.
- Cell size sets the size of the letters, and Dither pixel size sets the size of the dots.
- Set Split mode to Text in highlights to place the type in the light areas instead.
Questions
How do I make a photo out of text?
Load your picture into the Image slot and type your words into Text. In this preset the words fill the shadows and dots fill the highlights. Raise Cell size if you want the words to be readable.
Can I change the paper colour?
Yes. Background sets the paper and Foreground sets the ink.
