An atmospheric typographic screen with spaced lettering, source-driven colour and small clusters of light. Replace the image or video; edit the text, grid, dithering, tone and glow.
How this texture works
Marquee scatters rows of glowing letters and small clusters of dither lights across a near-black screen. Split mode is Text in highlights with a high split threshold, so only the brightest parts of your image or video turn into lettering, and the rest becomes fine dots. The Type treatment is Marquee, which spaces the letters out in rows. A strong glow and a high gamma keep the field dark with bright points of light.
Tips
- Type your own words into Text. They repeat across the highlights.
- Lower Text split threshold to let more of the picture turn into letters.
- Cell size sets the size of the letters. Larger cells give a bigger, sign-like marquee.
- Glow controls the halo around letters and dots. Lower it for a crisp, flat look.
Questions
How do I make a glowing text effect from a photo?
Load a dark picture with a few strong highlights into the Image slot. Letters from the Text field appear in those highlights. Raise Glow for more halo and adjust Text split threshold to control how much text appears.
What is the difference between Print, Marquee and Scaled?
They are the three Type treatment options for how the letters are laid out. Marquee spaces them out in rows; try Print and Scaled on your picture to compare.
