The uploaded image supplies the light and contours for thousands of fine blue-silver, copper and rose particles clustered along the illuminated contours. No photograph is displayed underneath the default effect. Replace the image or video to rebuild the particle field from your own subject; adjust density, grain, intensity, tone and sparkle. This is a source-derived 2D texture, not reconstructed 3D geometry.
How this texture works
Astral Dust uses the light in your image or video to place thousands of fine particles. They cluster along the bright contours of the subject in blue-silver, copper and rose, and the photo itself is hidden: Photo underlay is at 0, so only the particle portrait shows on a midnight blue Ground. Glints animate by default, with a few star flares on the brightest points. It is a flat texture built from your picture, not a 3D model.
Tips
- Density sets how many particles build the portrait. Lower it for a sparse star field, raise it to fill in faces and fabric.
- Spectrum spread controls how far the colours range from copper to blue. Lower values give a single metal tone.
- Raise Photo underlay if you want a faint version of the original picture behind the dust.
- Star flares adds cross-shaped flares on the strongest highlights. Keep it low so they stay accents.
Questions
How do I turn a photo into a particle portrait?
Replace the sample in the Image or video slot with your own picture. The particles are placed from its brightness, so a subject with clear lighting against a darker background gives the cleanest result. Adjust Density and Highlight falloff until the outline reads well.
Can I stop the particles from sparkling?
Yes. Set Animate glints to off for a still image, or lower Sparkle rate to slow the twinkle down.
