An original horizontal winged sculpture photograph, retyped live as a monochrome grid of punctuation, digits and letters. Tune the character ramp, density, contrast and weight or replace the source. Authored at 1920 × 1080 with a fixed 16:9 frame and 1080p default export. Native PNG and SVG retain transparent space between glyphs.
How this texture works
Winged Reverie retypes a photograph of a winged marble sculpture as a dense monochrome grid of punctuation, digits and letters. The Character ramp runs from a space and dots up to heavy glyphs such as & B @, so the stone's shading is carried by the characters alone. Photo background is at 0, so no photo shows behind them. Extra contrast and a darker gamma keep the white figure crisp against the empty background.
Tips
- Columns is high at 180 for fine detail. Lower it for a bolder, more graphic statue.
- Contrast and Gamma decide how much of the stone turns into heavy glyphs. Lower Gamma darkens the midtones.
- Edit the Character ramp to change the texture. Keep it ordered from light marks to heavy ones.
- Glyph weight changes the thickness of every character.
Questions
How do I turn a sculpture photo into ASCII art?
Use a well-lit photo of the sculpture on a plain background and load it into the Image slot. Raise Contrast so the shading separates, and use a long Character ramp so the curves of the stone get many tonal steps.
Why is there no photo behind the characters?
Photo background is set to 0 in this preset. Raise it to show the original picture under the glyphs.
