A soft-focus colour portrait with warm sideways echoes that ghost out from the head and shoulders in bands. Add your own image and edit the echoes, focus and vignette.
About this texture
A full-colour portrait slightly out of focus, with stroboscopic echoes of the subject smeared out to both sides of the head and shoulders. The echoes are cut out of the subject, washed toward a warm tan and added over the teal wall, so they glow brighter than the wall and break into horizontal bands with gaps between them. They reach furthest beside the head and fade out toward the elbows, as if the head swayed most during the exposure. Start with a generated portrait of a fictional sitter, or add your own image or video. Edit the echo strength, spread, copies, smear, band gaps, fill, tint, sway and head swing, the soft focus and vignette. Static by default.
How this texture works
Echo Blur shows your image or video as a soft-focus colour portrait with warm ghost copies smeared out to both sides of the head and shoulders. The echoes are cut from the subject, tinted toward a warm tan and added over the background, so they glow brighter than the wall and break into horizontal bands with gaps. They reach furthest beside the head and fade toward the elbows, as if the head swayed during the exposure. It is still by default.
Tips
- Echo strength and Echo spread set how bright the ghosts are and how far they reach.
- Band gaps cuts the echoes into horizontal bands. Set it to 0 for a smooth smear.
- Head swing and Sway pivot shape where the motion is strongest, as if the sitter moved from a lower pivot point.
- Change Echo tint to recolour the ghosts, and use Soft focus and Vignette to set the mood.
Questions
How do I make a motion echo effect on a portrait?
Load a portrait into the Image or video slot, ideally with the subject in front of a plain wall. The echoes are cut from the subject and placed beside it. Raise Echo spread for a stronger sense of movement.
Can I animate the echoes?
Yes. Set Animate plates to on. Speed and Amount control how fast and how much it moves.
