An original procedural interpretation of the supplied still image. Tall molten folds curl through dark metal, with cyan, warm gold and thin spectral reflection bands. Adjust speed, scale, fold distortion, fine band density, iridescence, exposure and palette. Fills the entire editor main without contain margins. Motion is authored from a still, not reproduced from a source video; geometry is approximate. Preview and code exports share the same WebGL renderer.
How this shader works
Iridescent Flow shows tall folds of liquid metal curling through a dark surface. Bright silver crests catch the light, cool blue and warm peach reflections slide across the folds, and thin rainbow bands trace their contours. The surface is generated in code and fills the whole canvas. Four colours in the Colors section set the dark metal, both reflections and the crests, so it can move away from silver entirely.
Tips
- Fold distortion controls how much the metal curls. Lower it for long, calm folds.
- Fine band density sets the number of thin rainbow lines on the surface.
- Iridescence sets how strong the rainbow colours are. At low values the metal looks plain.
- Swap Cool reflection and Warm reflection for your brand colours.
Questions
How do I make a liquid metal background?
Open Iridescent Flow, adjust Scale and Fold distortion for the size of the folds and Iridescence for the colour shift. It can be exported as an HTML file, a React or Svelte component or an MP4 video.
How do I make the motion slower?
Lower Speed / direction. Timeline offset then picks the moment of the motion you start on.
