An original motion texture with colored marks and fading memory. Opens on an image traced from its contours; drop in a video and the marks start accumulating over time. Edit persistence, sensitivity, mark size and tone live.
How this texture works
Chromatic Echo turns contours and movement into coloured marks that fade over time. On a still image it traces the contours. When you drop in a video, marks build up wherever something moves and slowly fade, leaving a coloured trail of the motion. Persistence sets how long a mark lasts, and Age color shifts its colour as it gets older, so recent movement and older movement look different.
Tips
- Persistence (ms) sets how long each mark stays. Longer values leave longer trails behind moving subjects.
- Sensitivity decides how much change is needed to leave a mark. Raise it to catch small movements.
- Mark size and Weight set the size and thickness of the marks.
- Age color controls how much a mark's colour changes as it fades.
Questions
How do I make a motion trail effect from a video?
Load your video into the Image or video slot. Marks appear wherever things move and fade over the time set by Persistence (ms). Footage with a still camera and one moving subject gives the clearest trails.
Does it work on a still image?
Yes. On a still image it traces the picture's contours with marks. The motion trails only appear with video.
